Burglar who stole thousands from Swansea shops, bars and restaurants is jailed

A man who burgled and stole from shops, pubs and restaurants in and around Swansea city has been jailed for a total of 46 months.
Fernando Peda, aged 18, of no fixed abode was jailed after he stole items worth £1,000s between February and August last year from staff areas of shops, bars and restaurants.
When arrested he provided false details and was also sentenced for this offence and for fraudulently using credit cards he had stolen.
Detective Inspector Gareth Jones said: “This was a complex investigation as when Peda was first arrested he purported to be a youth and was dealt with via the youth court.
“This did not deter his offending and he carried on targeting the staff areas of businesses in and around the city centre, he even used some of the credit cards he had stolen to make purchases.
“He was arrested in Scotland for similar offences and then brought back to South Wales Police.
“It is clear that he was intent on continuing his criminal behaviour and I hope during his time in prison he reflects on the impact his behaviour had on businesses, their staff and the wider community.”
