Swansea Council recruiting 17 new building and construction apprentices

Swansea Council is this week launching its annual apprenticeships recruitment campaign with 17 places in the Building Services team available.
The council’s award winning programme is highly regarded for developing the next generation of carpenters, plumbers, electricians, plasterers and bricklayers.
Application forms have now gone live on the council’s website at www.swansea.gov.uk/jobs with a deadline of Friday March 5 to apply for the building services apprenticeships.
Other apprenticeships in a range of other departments are advertised on the website throughout the year.
Cllr Andrea Lewis, Cabinet Member for Homes and Energy, said: “I’m exceptionally proud of our apprenticeship programme because of our reputation for first-class training and producing high-quality trade and craftspeople – both men and women.
“Hundreds of local young people have benefited since its inception and have progressed to fulfilling careers both within the council and outside thanks to the skills they developed.
“There has never been a more exciting time to join the building services team as we are committed to building 1,000 new energy efficient affordable council homes during the next 10 years while continuing to invest heavily in improvements in our existing housing stock.
“There is always a lot of interest when these posts become available and last year more than 350 people expressed an interest but I would urge potential apprentices to apply for these new roles.”
