Body found in search for missing Susan Smith

Officers from Dyfed Powys Police working on the search for missing woman Susan Smith have recovered a body from a beach near Solva in Pembrokeshire.

The Police confirmed that Mrs Smith’s family has been made aware of the situation, however, formal identification is yet to take place. At this time there is no reason to suggest any suspicious circumstances.

Susan Smith went missing on Saturday 27 February. Officers traced her movements along the beach into Ferryside in Carmarthenshire (pictured above), where she was seen crossing the railway lines into the village shortly before 3.40pm.

It is believed the 63-year-old had made her way back to the beach to a landmark known locally as Big Ben Rock at around 4pm.

Officers carried out extensive searches of the surrounding area, as well as house-to-house enquiries.

The search was supported by Mountain Rescue, Coastguard, the NPAS helicopter, fire and rescue and specialist dogs.

Inspector Gerallt Jones said: “We have received many calls regarding this matter and we would like to thank those people for helping us with our investigation. Extensive enquiries are still ongoing.”
