A four-star holiday accommodation overlooking one of the UK’s largest and most iconic beaches, Pendine Sands is up for lease.

Carmarthenshire County Council is inviting expressions of interest from investors to run the Caban – a fully fitted accommodation in the prime tourist beachside location, with panoramic sea views.

The exemplar development, which is situated on the All Wales Coastal path, provides new purpose-built holiday accommodation for up to 42 beds and a 76-seat cover café with further outdoor seating option.

There are also 15 parking spaces and an adjacent 10-bay motorhome site with wi-fi connectivity.

Pendine Sands and its fabulous 7-mile sandy beach has for generations attracted holiday makers.

It is one of only a few beaches where visitors can still drive a car on to the sand. It is also a mecca for world breaking speed attempts, with daredevils using the beach to race anything from cars, to motorbikes to sheds.

In recent years, the resort has benefitted from a multi-million-pound regeneration by Carmarthenshire County Council. Already completed is a traffic free 500m promenade overlooking and giving easy access to the beach, a beach facing commercial centre (Parry Thomas Centre) that is fully let with businesses ranging from kayak hire, coffee and ice cream to a hugely popular first floor Asian Fusion restaurant.

The successful applicant will be expected to provide a service that is in keeping and complimentary to other attractions in Pendine and the wider county, and also add value to an already successful attraction including those walking the All-Wales Coastal Path and attending international events.

Carmarthenshire County Council’s Leader, Cllr Emlyn Dole said: “We are delighted and excited that this new development is ready to go on the market. The build is situated in one of the fastest growing tourism destinations in Wales worth over half a billion pounds to the local economy in 2019. In recent years, the resort has benefitted from a multi-million-pound regeneration by Carmarthenshire County Council and this additional development will put it front and centre as a major holiday destination, further strengthening the economy of the area and providing much-needed jobs.”

Pendine is located within the county of Carmarthenshire, South West Wales, 15 miles west of the County town of Carmarthen and 15 miles east of one of the UK’s most popular tourist resorts, Tenby.
