With more than 8,000 miles already under her belt since setting off from Southgate in January 2019, she reached London today where she met with her MP, Tonia Antoniazzi, for Dementia Action Week.

Tonia met with her to congratulate her on the incredible achievement of raising more than £80,000 already for vital dementia research.

Tonia Antoniazzi said: “It’s such a thrill to have met Karen, who is a real-life superhero! It was wonderful to hear about her journey so far, and her personal motivations for undertaking such a mammoth task. As well as fundraising for Alzheimer’s Research UK, Karen is also raising much needed awareness of Dementia.

“This week is Dementia Action Week 2021. It has never been more important to shed light on the devastating impact Dementia has on families across the country.

“I wish Karen well going forward and can’t wait to see her again when she finishes back in Southgate. You can follow Karen’s journey by following her on twitter @Thepennyrollson and if you would like to donate to this cause, go to www.justgiving.com/fundraising/thepennyrollson

Dementia is one of the leading causes of death in the UK, but there are currently no available treatments to delay the onset, slow progression, or cure the diseases that cause the condition. But research can change this. Alzheimer’s Research UK are calling on the UK Government to honour their election pledge to double funding for dementia research and speed up progress in clinical trials.
