South Wales Police have arrested a 14 year-old boy following reports of an attempted robbery at the Esso Garage on Swansea Road, Penllergaer on Sunday 30 May.

The juvenile has since been charged with three counts of robbery and has been remanded into custody.

Detective Inspector Gareth Jones said: “While the offender was unsuccessful in his attempts to rob the petrol station, to go through such an experience is extremely traumatic.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who came forward and provided information during the investigation and help us to locate the suspect.

“I hope this charge provides reassurance to the local community and also acts as a warning to any youth looking to commit such crimes.”
