Retro Swansea City kit and badge for new season harks back to 80s success

Swansea City AFC have announced their new kit for the 2021-22 season – and it comes with a decidedly retro flavour.

The kit forms part of a commemoration of the 40-year anniversary of the swans playing in the first division for the first time – way back in 1981.

It’s not just the kit that’s had a retro makeover – the club’s new badge has a nod to the iconic 1981 John Toshak season too.

The new design is an updated, modernised representation of that crest, last seen used on jerseys between 1992 and 1997.

Swansea University continue to be front of shirt sponsors, with local housing firm Westacres featuring on the back of the shirt for the first time.

The 2021-22 home shirt features the traditional black and white, including a classic stripe design in the material.
