Could it be third time lucky for golden oldie searching for forever home?

Dogs Trust Bridgend is hoping it’s third time lucky for a golden oldie who sadly found himself back in their care in January and has been searching for a home ever since.

Eleven-year-old Mastiff cross Chief originally found himself at the Pen-y-Fai centre back in February 2014 when he was found straying. He was quickly adopted but sadly that home was not meant to be and was returned a few months later. He was happily rehomed once again to a loving family where he lived for more than six years, but unfortunately came back into the care of Dogs Trust in January this year when his owners could no longer care for him.

The team say he is a firm favourite with them but is now searching for a retirement home when he can put his paws up and live out the rest of his twilight years.

Anna Lucey, Assistant Manager at Dogs Trust Bridgend, says:   “Chief is an absolutely fabulous boy who has found himself back in our care through no fault of his own. After more than seven months with us, we’re really hoping it’ll be third time lucky for him really soon.

“Being an older gent he does have arthritis which will require ongoing medical care  which Dogs Trust will support with. Because of this, we’re looking for a home without  many steps and a nice garden he can potter around in. An owner who is around for  most of the day would keep him happy as he loves to be around his favourite people.

“He likes a quiet life so an adult-only home without too much going on, and few visitors would be ideal. He isn’t too keen on other dogs so we’re looking for an experienced owner who can manage this and provide him with some quiet walks away from too many other dogs.

“Despite his age, he’s got plenty of character and we all love him here so we’ve got our fingers crossed that the day he finds his final forever home isn’t too far away.”

All of the dogs in Dogs Trust’s care are looked after by a dedicated team of Canine Carers and specialist Training and Behaviour Advisors, all of which wouldn’t be possible without the players of People’s Postcode Lottery whose support helps to fund our dedicated and skilled Canine Carers, allowing them to care for, rehabilitate and rehome around 14,000 dogs each year, 700 of which are from Dogs Trust Bridgend.

If you think you could give Chief the forever home he is looking for, go to www.dogstrust.org.uk/rehoming to start the virtual adoption process.
