Aldi to create more than 2000 jobs across UK before Christmas – including opening a new Swansea store

Aldi is to create more than 2,000 new jobs across the UK between now and Christmas.
The supermarket, which currently has over 920 stores and employs around 38,000 people, is pushing ahead with plans to open more than one new store a week this year.
That includes a new store at the former Toys R Us at Parc Tawe in Swansea City Centre – which the discount retailer says will open in the coming months.
The Parc Tawe unit has been empty since 2018 when Toys R Us went into administration, apart from a short spell in 2019 when charity Circus Eruption took over the space temporarily.
The vast Toys R Us unit has been subdivided into two-units, with ALDI taking on one half of the premises.
The new store will benefit from being next to a new entrance to Parc Tawe recently approved by council planners.

Store Assistants at Aldi can earn up to £10.57 nationally with the supermarket also paying for breaks. Other store roles available will include managerial positions, caretakers and cleaners, as well as store apprentices.
The supermarket is also currently recruiting for 900 jobs across its 13 Regional Distribution Centres around the UK, and a further 175 vacancies at its Head Office in Atherstone, Warwickshire.
In addition, Aldi is also on the lookout for over 80 graduates to join its next graduate scheme intake, starting from September onwards.
Giles Hurley, Chief Executive Officer of Aldi UK, said: “I am unbelievably proud of our amazing Aldi colleagues, and what they have achieved together over the last year.
“As we continue to invest in new stores, bringing unbeatable Aldi prices to millions of customers, we’re looking for thousands more colleagues to join our incredible teams across the country. I look forward to welcoming each and every one of them in the future.”
