Armed robbery at Briton Ferry convenience store


South Wales Police were called to Tesco Express on Neath Road in Britton Ferry at 10.45pm last night (Tuesday 24 August) following reports of an armed robbery
Two female members of staff were threatened by two men.
The suspects took a quantity of cash and cigarettes before making off on a motorbike.
Detective Inspector Carl Price from South Wales Police said: “This is an appalling crime which has left the two female victims extremely shaken.
“We understand it will cause the public concern and, although we are in the early stages in our investigation, we are carrying out a number of enquiries to find the two individuals responsible.
“As part of those enquiries I am asking for the public’s help. We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident, or who has CCTV or dashcam footage in the area, to get in touch as it may assist our investigation.”
A spokesperson for Tesco said: “We are assisting police with their inquiries and supporting our store colleagues following the incident at our Briton Ferry Express store last night.”
