City Centre handbag robber charged

A 38 year-old man from Townhill has been charged after an attempted robbery in Swansea City centre.
Marc Morgan was remanded into custody after the incident at 12.40pm on Tuesday 21 September.
Police were called to Oxford Street in Swansea city centre after a man attempted to steal a 63 year-old woman’s handbag.
The woman was sat outside, with a friend having coffee, when Morgan is alleged to have approached her and attempted to forcibly steal the bag from her. During the incident the strap of the bag broke and he left empty handed.
Detective Inspector Gareth Jones from South Wales Police said: “Handbag theft may not seem like the most serious of offences, but it is one that can cause huge upset and inconvenience to the victim, and the effects go far beyond the loss of their property.
“Those enjoying a day out in Swansea should be able to enjoy themselves without worrying that their belongings will be taken from them”.
South Wales Police report that extra patrols are operating around Oxford Street as a precaution.
