Anyone for a Tikka Cupcake? Rasoi takes the cake with curry cupcakes for 10th anniversary

If you’re a curry and a cake lover, then you’re in luck. Swansea’s multi award-winning Indian fusion restaurant, Rasoi Indian Kitchen, is celebrating its 10th anniversary by launching a limited-edition curry flavoured cupcake.
Chefs at the Pontlliw restaurant have come up with the Tikka treat after being inspired by one of their most popular dishes. It may sound highly questionable, but the cupcake surprisingly offers a sweet and sticky delight of tikka infused sponge with spiced mango filling topped with coconut icing and puffed rice.
Rasoi Indian Kitchen was opened in Pontlliw by brothers Jas and Suki Kullar whilst still in their teens in November 2011. The restaurant with the tagline ‘not your average Indian’ became such a success that the young entrepreneurs opened a sister restaurant, Rasoi Waterfront, in SA1 in 2015.

Jas Kullar said: “Rasoi turning 10 years old is a big deal for us. We were just teenagers when we decided to open Rasoi Indian Kitchen in Pontlliw and since then we’ve been lucky enough to be able to open Rasoi Waterfront in SA1 and win many highly coveted awards along the way.
“We wanted to do something different to mark the occasion and have some fun with it – we loved the idea of taking our store cupboard essentials and transforming them into sweet treats. I’ve tried the cakes myself and I can confirm, they’re not your average cupcakes! They’re delicious and unusual, offering some sugar and spice, and all things nice! We can’t wait to see and hear everyone’s reactions.”
Rasoi will be giving away the curry cupcakes at random to their social media followers who enter their big birthday social media competition which is offering one lucky person the chance to win a Rasoi takeaway for the next ten years.
Jas continued: “We are truly thankful for all the support from our customers over the last decade. We wanted to run a birthday competition with a really big prize to show people just how much we appreciate their continued custom – we think free takeaways for the next 10 years just about fits the bill! Good luck to everyone who enters and here’s to another 10 years in Swansea!
