Christmas ‘What’s Your Perfect Gift’ quiz launches in Swansea to encourage local shopping and minimise waste

People in Swansea can take part in a new festive quiz which is designed to encourage local shopping through the new Big Heart of Swansea Gift Card.
Led by Swansea BID (Business Improvement District) the ‘What’s Your Perfect Gift’ Christmas quiz helps users to figure out which present they would most like to receive for Christmas by answering five festive questions, including their favourite Christmas movie, favourite holiday food, and the present they asked Santa for as a child, and offers players the chance to win a £100 Big Heart of Swansea Gift Card.
Answers to the quiz questions reveal the ideal present to suit the player’s personality in one of six possible categories; food and drink, shopping, leisure and attractions, health and beauty, services and accommodation. Each category represents a type of business where consumers can spend their Big Heart of Swansea Gift Card. Players can then share their ideal present with friends and family.
The Big Heart of Swansea Gift Card launched in October 2021 as part of efforts to boost local spending, drive customer loyalty and to support BID area businesses as the city centre goes through its recovery stage. The gift card can be spent in over 30 businesses in the town, including national brands like Lush, Primark and M&S, and independent places such as Bambu, Kardomah, Gift & Co and The Grand Hotel.
Andrew Douglas, Swansea BID Operations Manager, said: “The ‘What’s Your Perfect Gift’ quiz is a bit of Christmas fun, but it’s also a reminder that we have this fantastic gifting option right here in Swansea. Whether someone enjoys eating out, shopping, wellbeing or discovering the city, the Big Heart of Swansea Gift Card wraps up the city in one gift card.
“Around 20% of Christmas gifts end up in landfill. It’s our mission this year to prevent waste and instead encourage people to think locally with their festive shopping. There’s so much on offer right here in Swansea. Give people a gift they’ll enjoy and appreciate, prevent unnecessary waste and support your city at the same time.”
The Swansea Gift Card is part of the award-winning Town & City Gift Card programme from fintech Miconex, available in over 70 towns and cities in the UK and Ireland, and is the first town wide gift card scheme of its kind in Swansea.
Colin Munro is the managing director of Miconex and said multi-store gift cards are growing in popularity: “Instead of single retailer gift cards, customers are increasingly turning to multi-store cards like the Swansea Gift Card, representing 42.8% of gift card purchases in November 2021, the highest level since GlobalData began tracking and almost overtaking single retailer gift cards (48.4%). And customers are still keen to shop local with 32.3% of consumers buying a gift card in November 2021 doing so to support local businesses.
“The Swansea Gift Card offers ultimate choice and the ability to show support for Swansea businesses at this crucial time of year.”
