Police investigating ‘suspicious incident’ after man followed Morriston schoolgirl on way to school

South Wales Police say they are investigating a ‘suspicious incident’ after a pupil at Morriston Comprehensive School was followed by a man on her way to school.

The incident, which happened on the morning of Monday 7 March, took place as the girl was walking through a lane between the leisure centre and the rugby field close to the school.

In a letter to parents, Morriston Comprehensive assistant headteacher, Mrs N Altman warned that the man had approached the pupil saying that her parents had asked him to collect her on their behalf.

When she continued to walk to school, he then followed her right to the school gates.

Mrs Altman said: “We have reported the incident to the Police. They have advised that where possible pupils should be walking in pairs or groups and that pupils need to report anything suspicious to their parent/carer or to the school.

“We will also speak to the children about this incident and keeping themselves safe and would appreciated if this could be reiterated at home.”

South Wales Police say their are investigating the “suspicious incident”.

A spokesperson for the Police said: “Officers are continuing with their enquiries to establish the full circumstances behind the event, which includes house to house enquiries and the assessment of CCTV.

“Anyone with any information about the incident should contact us quoting occurrence number 2200076157”.
