The award-winning Gower Walking Festival returns in early September.

It’s a firm favourite in the tourism calendar, attracting participants from near and far.

This year, the Festival is offering 33 spectacular walks over nine days and celebrates the tenth anniversary of the Wales Coast Path.

The opening weekend will include two long distance walks that take you around the entire Gower coast, from Penclawdd to Mumbles.

Sarah Samuel, Chair of the organising committee, said: “I am delighted that again our fantastic group of volunteers, from walk leaders to committee members, have made this year’s festival possible.  The week has walks for all to enjoy, from short strolls around Mumbles, to long hikes across Gower’s peaks.  And we’d like to say a huge thanks to our sponsors.”

The Gower Walking Festival is a place for nature lovers to explore the beauty of Gower, along with its culture, history, and flora and fauna. This brings locals and tourists from all over the UK together, to Swansea Bay to dive into the mesmerising views and waters of Gower.

Last year, Sunday Times Travel Editor Liz Edwards previewed the Festival and was delighted to enjoy the walks less trodden in the UK’s first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

As in past years, participants can enter the Festival’s photography competition with their photos taken during the walks.

Jodie, a new committee member and sponsor, says, “The team behind the Festival are all passionate about Gower and I am so excited to be joining them. Walkers will get to experience the spectacular scenery we have on our doorstep, learn about Gower’s rich history, and soak in the beautiful surroundings. Gower is such a magnificent place and it’s lovely to share and celebrate it in this way.”

The Gower Walking Festival will run from 3 to 11 September and features walks and events for all abilities.

Full details of the walks are on gowerwalkingfestival.uk and the Gower Walking Festival’s Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages. All walks should be booked online.
