Gorseinon pub overlooking rugby and cricket club could become flats

The owners of The Lewis Jones Sports Bar on Lime Street in Gorseinon have made early enquiries with Swansea planners about turning the property into 6 flats.
The bar, which overlooks Gorseinon rugby and cricket pitches is located adjacent to Lime Street car park, steps away from the town centre.
In pre-application planning documents, the owner of the building says they acquired the property to develop the food and drink business. But due to its location, Covid and rising costs, the business is continuing to lose money, and ultimately will have to close for good.
The owner is instead proposing the building is converted into 6 flats. Of these, 4 will have good views across the playing fields each with their own private garden areas, and 2 will have 3m deep gardens.
The outside of the building is not proposed to be changed, apart from increasing the number and size of windows.
Car parking will be allocated to each of the flats.
A pre-application is where applicants can get a feel of what city planners think of proposals before submitting formal plans.
A full planning submission is likely to follow, if planners give a positive response to these early proposals.
