University of Wales Trinity St David ranked 1st in Wales in 5 subjects

University of Wales Trinity St David (UWTSD) has been placed 1st in Wales in 5 subjects in the Guardian University League Table 2022.
The University Group, which includes Coleg Sir Gâr, is positioned joint 74th overall out of the 121 featured institutions from across the UK.
The Guardian ranks universities according to nine different measures: including how satisfied final-year students are with their courses, teaching and feedback, spending per student; the student/staff ratio; graduate career prospects; what grades applicants need to get a place; a value-added score that compares students’ entry qualifications with their final degree results.
The subjects which are ranked 1st in Wales are:
- Film and Photography – 4th in the UK (out of 91)
- Product Design – 8th in the UK (out of 99)
- Graphic design – 10th in the UK (out of 85)
- Fine Art – 11th in the UK (out of 63)
- Education – 14th in the UK (out of 96)
Professor Mirjam Plantinga, the University’s Pro Vice Chancellor and Director of the Academic Office, said: “The University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) celebrates the news that we have achieved a solid performance in this year’s Guardian University League Table. It shows the strength of our subjects across our campuses. The excellent results for the University’s Swansea College of Art and Education programmes demonstrates the University’s longstanding reputation for these subjects.”
Caroline Thraves, Academic Director Art & Media, added: “We are delighted that the Guardian League table has placed us first in Wales for our provision here at Swansea College of Art. We know our students receive a first class arts education here at Swansea College of Art but it is always great to see this recognised more widely.”
