Police launch criminal damage investigation after offroad motorbikes destroy Skewen sports pitch
South Wales Police have launched a criminal damage investigation after off-road motorbikes destroyed playing fields in Skewen.

The incident is believed to have taken place late on Friday evening (3 February) causing the football and rugby pitches at Skewen RFC to be extremely badly damaged.
Skewen RFC Juniors Chairman, Carl Jenkins has said the damage could cost “tens of thousands of pounds” to repair.
Mr Jenkins described the damage in a public facebook post, saying: “We are led to believe that 2 motorcycles have ridden across the pitches, causing thousands of pounds worth of damage.
“As a result we have had no choice but to cancel children’s games / training sessions until the damage has been repaired.
“If anyone had any information regarding who is responsible, please can you contact me and I’ll pass the information forward as it has been reported to the police.
“It’s devastating that this has happened.
“The volunteers all work incredibly hard to make sure that the children of Skewen have great facilities to play rugby and football. Please help us find out who did this.”

South Wales Police Neighbourhood Inspector Lindsey Sweeney said: “We are aware that motorcycles have ridden across the pitches this weekend causing extensive damage which has impacted on the local community significantly.
“As a result of the criminal behaviour children’s sports fixtures have been cancelled which has understandably caused great anger and upset.
“We are currently pursuing a number of lines of enquiry and the neighbourhood team will work tirelessly to identify those responsible for this mindless act.
“I would encourage the local community to share information with us.”
