Skewen man facing 16 year jail sentence for raping and abusing preteen girl
A 64-year-old Skewen man has been jailed for 16 years after grooming and raping a vulnerable young girl.

Dennis Davies has been sentenced to 16 years at Swansea Crown Court for two counts of sexual assault by penetration and five counts of sexual touching of a child under the age of 13.
He will also be on the sex offenders register for life.
The incidents were reported to South Wales Police in 2021 when the victim made disclosures to her mother about the defendant.
Detective Constable Katy Curtis said: “This was a distressing case, and our thoughts are with the young victim and their family.
“Dennis Davies has a sexual interest in children, and it is rightly so that he has received a lengthy prison sentence which reflects the seriousness of his offending. He will now be in prison where he can no longer be a danger to other children.”
Detective Inspector Sharon Gill-Lewis added: “I commend the victim for their strength of character, resolve and their ongoing support and trust with the investigation to seek justice. I hope that the sentencing can provide them with a sense of closure and comfort that he can no longer harm them, or anyone else, in this way.
“South Wales Police is committed to supporting survivors of sexual assault and I hope the outcome of this investigation shows that time isn’t a barrier, and no matter how long ago an offence took place, we will always fully investigate these types of crimes.”
