Man sentenced to 10 years for Aberavon crossbow attack
A 51-year-old man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after shooting a man with a crossbow at a flat in Aberavon.

Adam Calland has been sentenced to 10 year and six months in prison, plus five years on licence, for wounding with intent to cause GBH following a serious assault on a man in a property in Aberavon on Saturday 17th September.
Officers from South Wales Police attended a flat on Victoria Road, Sandfields, around 6.45pm on 17th September and found the 32-year-old victim lying on the floor with a penetration wound to his chest.
It transpired that, following a dispute between people within the flat, Adam Calland had produced a crossbow which he used to shoot the 32-year-old male victim in the chest. He was promptly arrested having been found outside the premises.

Detective Sergeant Craig Earley said: “Adam Calland’s actions were unbelievably dangerous and posed a risk to the direct victim as well as the others that were in the flat at the time.
“It was a brutal attack, and the victim is still suffering as a result of his injuries. I want to thank the Police officers and ambulance crew who attended at the scene and provided vital first aid to the victim
“I am pleased with the court’s sentence as it reflects the seriousness of his actions and makes it clear that the use of any weapon will not be tolerated in our communities.”
