Six fire crews called to Gower barn fire

Fire crews from across Swansea and beyond were called to a large fire at an agricultural barn in Llanmadoc on Gower last night (8 March).

Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service say the large agricultural building, which measured 40 by 80 metres in size was being used as a wood store was on fire.

Firefighters from five fire stations across the city, along with a water bowser from Tumble in Carmarthenshire were called to the incident just after 4pm.

A spokesperson from the fire service said: “At 4.09pm on Wednesday, March 8th, crews from Reynoldston, Gorseinon, Morriston, Swansea West, Swansea Central and Tumble were called to an incident at Llanmadog.

“On arrival, 1 large agricultural building measuring 40x80m and used as a wood store was on fire. Crews extinguished the fire using 2 hose reel jets, 2 main jets, fire extinguishers, RTC spreaders and small tools. Once extinguished, some areas were left to smoulder overnight with a reinspection due to take place on Thursday, March 9th. The Police were also in attendance.

“Crews left the scene at 12.18am on Thursday, March 9th.”
