Literature stars heading for Swansea libraries

Authors, editors and illustrators will be hosting events to help local people hone their own skills for the world of publishing.
Those playing a part in the Get Into Swansea Libraries programme – from March 20-31 – include Rebecca F John, author of Costa First Novel award shortlisted The Haunting of Henry Twist, and Liz Hyder, best-selling author of historical novel The Gifts.
Illustrator Bonnie Hawkins, who’s worked on illustrations for big names such as author Joanne Harris, plans to host an illustration workshop ideal for those wanting to take their art to new levels.
Council cabinet member Elliott King said: “Our Get Into programme will help people ignite their creativity and will offer great inspiration.
“Our hosts are exceptionally talented and engaging – it’s good to have them on board!”
The programme will feature a range of knowledge and skill workshops and talks in libraries across the city.
They’ll be ideal for established authors or editors – and for those just starting out in publishing.
Get Into will also see dedicated sessions for school groups.
Some sessions need booking through a library or by emailing jennifer.dorrian@swansea.gov.uk.
