Blossom tree planted at Casllwchwr Primary School to connect more people to nature
On Friday (17 March), Tonia Antoniazzi MP joined National Trust Cymru at Casllwchwr Primary School to plant a blossom tree to help bring pupils, staff and the local community closer to nature on their doorstep.

The planting is part of National Trust Cymru’s #GwleddYGwanwyn #BlossomWatch campaign and commitment to provide opportunities for more people to connect with nature, beauty and history, wherever they are in Wales.
As part of the campaign, the conservation charity is working with Members of Parliament and Members of the Senedd across Wales to plant blossom trees in locations of their choice within their constituency or region – helping to develop blossom spaces that respect local setting, spirit of place and bring people and nature together.
Once established, the trees will bloom each spring, bringing the joyful sight of blush-tinted blooms to the nation’s community spaces and encourage a beneficial everyday connection with nature, culture and each other.
Tonia Antoniazzi, MP for Gower said: “I’ve had a fabulous afternoon planting trees with the pupils of Casllwchwr Primary School for the National Trusts Blossom Watch campaign. Today’s tree planting has been a brilliant practical lesson on how trees not only make our surroundings more aesthetically pleasing but also how important they are for the environment.
“I hope as many constituents as possible follow the example set by Casllwchwr and take up the brilliant opportunity to plant trees and create a greener, healthier future for ourselves and for our planet. By joining the National Trusts Blossom Watch campaign and taking action to protect our natural environment, we can make a meaningful difference in Gower.”

Ellen Jones, External Affairs Consultant, National Trust Cymru added: “Bringing blossom to schools across Wales is just one way we are bringing people together to experience the joy of nature. National Trust Cymru’s #blossomwatch campaign will leave a legacy that will benefit both wildlife and future generations.
“We’d like to thank Tonia Antoniazzi, MP, the pupils and staff of Casllwchwr Primary School for joining us here today to plant a tree. We hope they will find joy in watching the tree grow and blossom each spring.”
Mr Thomas, Head Teacher at Casllwchwr Primary School said: “We are very pleased Tonia Antoniazzi MP has chosen our school to be part of National Trust Cymru’s Blossom Watch cmapaign, the children will enjoy the shade of the tree in Summer, and the blossom of the tree in Spring for many years to come.”
