Congolese community In Swansea boosted by Amazon donation
A Swansea charity providing services and support for Congolese immigrants and refugees in Swansea has received a £1,000 donation from the Amazon fulfilment centre in the city.
The donation from the team in Swansea Bay was made to Congolese Development Project, a charity that assists newcomers in Swansea in their transition process and facilitates integration into a new life.
The donation from Amazon in Swansea will go towards supporting members of the Congolese community in Swansea.
Speaking on the donation, Christopher Law, General Manager at Amazon in Swansea, said: “We’re very pleased to make this donation to support the volunteers and service users of Congolese Development Project. The charity does great work with individuals and families who are new to the Swansea area, and we hope this donation contributes to continued support for those who benefit.”
Justina Onuigbo, an employee at Amazon in Swansea who nominated the charity for support, added: “It’s great to hear that Amazon has supported Congolese Development Project. The opportunities it provides to immigrants and refugees settling in in a new city help everyone feel as if they belong in Swansea.”
Mr Kokisa Buka, from Congolese Development Project, added: “We would like to say a big thank you to Christopher and the Amazon team in Swansea for this donation. Through our services at Congolese Development Project, we help refugees and immigrants to improve the quality of their lives by becoming productive, responsible individuals who give back to the local community. This support is a great boost to us.”
The donation to Congolese Development Project was made as part of Amazon’s programme to support the communities around its operating locations across the UK.
