Man described as ‘Pembrokeshire’s most prolific drug dealer’ has been jailed

Dyfed Powys Police describe the day Andrew Lowndes was stopped by officers, he was travelling back to Pembrokeshire from the South Wales Police area and was suspected of making the journey to collect heroin.

Knowing he was going to be searched, the 52-year-old hid half an ounce of the class A drug underneath the back seat of the police car he was detained in.

Police say one of the officers who had stopped his vehicle noticed he was fidgeting with the seat on the way to custody, and found the clingfilm-wrapped heroin stash worth around £1,390.

A search of his home uncovered digital weighing scales and other items linked with the use and supply of heroin, while messages were received on Lowndes’ mobile phone from people requesting to buy drugs.

He was charged with possessing a class A drug with intent to supply, which he initially denied but later admitted to in court.

Lowndes was sentenced to four-and-a-half years in prison when he appeared at Swansea Crown Court on Monday, April 17.

Dyfed-Powys Police officer in case Detective Sergeant Vinny Barrett said: “Andrew Lowndes is one of Pembrokeshire’s most prolific and long-standing class A drug dealers, and his incarceration will no doubt have an impact on the supply of heroin in the area.”
