Llanelli man jailed after assaulting pregnant girlfriend
35-year-old Darren Nicholas has been jailed for 2 years and nine months for a string of assaults including breaking his pregnant girlfriend’s hip and threatening her unborn child.

Dyfed Powys Police say that when Darren Nicholas was arrested on suspicion of assaulting his pregnant girlfriend, he tried to claim she’d been injured by falling over her dog.
The 35-year-old, of Park View in Llanelli, caused his victim to suffer a suspected broken hip, and made threats against her unborn baby when he assaulted her in March this year.
Police say that thanks to her strength and bravery in speaking out about him, he’s now been jailed for 15 months for unlawful wounding.
He has also been sentenced for an unrelated assault causing grievous bodily harm, and will serve a total prison term of two years and nine months.
A spokesperson for Dyfed Powys Police said: “We understand the prospect of reporting a partner for domestic abuse is daunting, especially if there are children involved, and our officers have commended the victim in this case for her support throughout the investigation which has seen her perpetrator put behind bars.”
