In an incredible showcase of talent from British gymnasts, the event, which oversaw 60 junior and senior gymnasts from across the country, 18-year-old Allen was at her best to top the standings in her category.

A score of 45.450 sending the Neath prodigy to the top of the podium. Allen would also triumph on Beam, whilst further medals would be forthcoming with silvers in both Women’s Floor and Uneven Bars and a bronze on Vault.

The success at the tournament continued on from Allen’s showing at the 2022 edition in Cardiff where four gold medals were won in vault, uneven bars and the floor alongside the Open Class II all-around gold.

Keen to get back in the gym at Neath Afan Gymnastics Club and continue training at the sport she loves, Allen now has her sights on qualifying for the Disability Masters in March 2024.

“It’s great, we’re just like one big family. I love training there with all my friends, everyone is

so supportive there.” Allen commented on the Gymnastics club.

“It feels amazing. It’s been such an incredible competition. My favourite apparatus of the day was the beam as I achieved a clean performance. It’s been great to have such a supportive atmosphere here at Lilleshall.”

After the success, founder of the Neath Afan Gymnastics Nicola Lewis was full of praise at Allen’s remarkable progress.

“Ruby is thrilled to have become British Disability Champion. She has worked hard to cope with her Scoliosis and has not allowed it to limit her development. All her commitment has paid off and makes it all worthwhile,” said Lewis.

Coach Beth Carslake, delighted with the youngster’s achievements, hopes this can now lead to others getting involved in the sport.

Ruby’s success embodies the ethos of Neath-Afan that every child can achieve their best. We hope Ruby’s success will inspire others to participate, thrive and succeed in our wonderful sport of gymnastics.”
