The opening launch coincides with the recent announcement that the government has boosted funding for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) to £7,500, to help make transitioning to heat pumps more affordable for homeowners.
The Daikin Sustainable Home Centre, located at Unit 5 Cramic Way, Port Talbot and is being opened by LBS Builders Merchants.
The launch event runs on Thursday 5th October from 8:00am – 1:00pm and is open to anyone, from homeowners to trade professionals such as housebuilders, merchants and heating installers.
Visitors will be able to look around, meet experts from LBS Builders Merchants and Daikin UK, and experience the latest Daikin heat pump technology.
Attendees will be invited to take part in a prize draw with the chance to win a Bosch drill and impact driver set.
Tea and coffee will be served throughout the event with breakfast sandwiches being served from 8:00am onwards. LBS Builders Merchants will also be offering a free special tool kit for each heat pump sold, whilst stocks last.
Alun Morgan, Renewables Manager at LBS Builders Merchants, commented: “The launch of the new Daikin Sustainable Home Centre is an important milestone for the business. With more than 80 years of expertise in supplying building products to both the construction industry and the general public, our experience combined with Daikin’s expertise in renewable heating makes us perfectly placed to provide expert insight and recommendations to the people of Port Talbot looking to revolutionise how they heat their homes.”
“Sustainability is high on the town’s agenda at the moment after the Tata Steelworks recent decarbonization announcement, so we are looking forward to adding to this momentum and seeing lots of friendly faces at the launch to celebrate helping our community becoming more sustainable.”
The new centre will be a place for homeowners to familiarise themselves with air source heat pump technology, and to sit down with an expert to discuss the best heating and cooling solutions for their home.
Iain Bevan, Commercial Manager – Heating & Renewables at Daikin UK, added: “It’s important that homeowners who want to go green can easily access expert advice and guidance, helping them find the best solution for their household’s heating and hot water needs.
“Heat pumps have huge potential to reduce energy usage and bills in the home. Over its 15-year lifespan*, switching from a fossil fuel boiler to an air source heat pump can save homeowners more than £3,000 when compared to a gas boiler, more than £6000 compared with oil and more than £9,000 compared to LPG.
“With extensive funding available through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, which has recently been boosted to £7,500, now is a fantastic time for homeowners to make green energy efficiency improvements.”
