Study names Swansea as one of the safest places in the UK for a night out

A new study has revealed the top 10 safest UK cities for a night out based on factors such as safety index score and Swansea features in 7th place after scoring 8.78/10.

The research, carried out by security experts at Get Licensed, has revealed the best UK cities for a night out based on factors such as safety score, the average cost of a pint, the number of bars, clubs and pubs per 100,000 people, the percentage of people feeling worried about being mugged, assaulted and more.

Swansea City Centre has been awarded the Purple Flag Award for nine consecutive years. One of only two places in Wales to achieve the award, the flag highlights how visitors can always expect an entertaining, diverse, safe and enjoyable night out.

Newcastle upon Tyne was crowned the best city in the UK for a night out after being awarded a score of 8.19/10. In second place was the historic city of York with a score of 8.14/10 and in third was Warrington, scoring 8.01/10.

Although millions of people from around the world visit the capital each year, London has in fact been named the worst UK city for a night out. The capital has also been named the city with the highest average cost of a pint at £6.82.

Wigan was named the best place for drinking in the UK, based on the number of bars and clubs per 100,000 people, as well as the average cost of a pint which is lower than in any other area of the UK at £2.56.
