The pub is part of Proper Pubs group, the community wet-led operator division of Admiral Taverns, which has more than 190 pubs across England, Scotland and Wales.

Found behind the bar is community hero and passionate operator, Andy Simons, who was born and bred in Swansea and Matt Brogan-Wood, who has over 24 years’ experience in the hospitality industry.

Andy’s connection to the local area means he’s eager to create a go-to social hub, which,
combined with Matt’s knowledge and expertise is a recipe for success. The dynamic couple look forward to cementing the pub at the heart of the community.

The pub will be given a new lease of life inside with brand-new flooring, furniture, fixtures and fittings throughout to modernise the overall look and feel. The pub will also feature fresh décor with the team working hard to retain all its traditional Victorian characteristics to ensure it stays true to its roots.

To celebrate the reopening, the St George has a jam-packed weekend full of entertainment in-store including a live performance from local band, Electronica, on Friday December 1 at 8pm.

The St George will offer a wide range of drinks offers, including Wine Wednesday, where customers can get £2 off a bottle, Fizz Friday which offers customers a bottle for £10, along with cocktails, various bottle and shot deals throughout the week.

Andy Simons, Operator of the St George is excited about the reopening, and said:

“We can’t wait to see the pub’s transformation, we’re really excited to get behind the bar, meet all our customers and support the local community.

“We’ll be starting off by collecting food for a local food bank, and donations to get a defibrillator installed. Pubs are the hub of their community, and we can’t wait to be the hub of Swansea.”

On top of the extensive range of drinks offers, the pub also features five flat screen televisions complete with Sky Sports, TNT and horse racing channels and a brand-new pool area.

The St George also looks forward to making use of the new staging area by introducing a regular schedule of weekend entertainment including vocalists, DJ sets and karaoke. Moving forward, there are future plans to introduce regular quiz nights.

Matthew Gurney, Operations Director for Proper Pubs, said:
