Asbri Planning on behalf of applicants MMR Holdings Ltd are proposing the units in 3 blocks adjoining the existing British Red Cross offices.
The site was previously used by WRW Construction as a storage area for general waste materials, but now lies completely vacant.
WRW went into administration in June 2021 after coming under “significant financial stress”.
The proposed one-storey units will have a modern design, including solar panels mounted on the roof according to pre-planning documents.
There are 41 parking spaces planned for the development.
In the design and access statement, the applicants say that: “The development has the potential to provide significant economic benefits in the form of job creation both during construction and when operational.
“To that end, it is envisaged that the proposed units will result in significant job opportunities in this regard when operational.
“There will also be benefits to the local supply chain both during construction and when the commercial units are in use.”
It is proposed that the operating hours will be 7am – 7pm (Monday to Saturday) and 8am – 12pm on Sundays.
