South Wales Police say that this follows a series of racially offensive and homophobic daubings at various sites across South Wales, as well a further investigation into online activities.
Police say the teen from Port Talbot, who has not been named for legal reasons, was charged with three counts of dissemination of terrorism material and two counts of possession of material likely to be of use to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism.
He was also charged with two counts of racially aggravated criminal damage to the Windrush Mural in Port Talbot and one count of homophobically aggravated criminal damage in Cardiff City Centre.
Police say he was bailed to allow for a pre-sentence report and will be sentenced on 21 August 2023.
The Windrush mural in Port Talbot, celebrating the town’s Caribbean community, was defaced with Nazi images and racial slurs on 28 October 2022. It has since been repainted.
