Police in Maesteg uncover huge cannabis farm
Two eagle-eyed police officers on the beat in Caerau who spotted suspicious activity at an innocuous terraced home, have led to the seizure of over £100,000 of cannabis plants and the arrest of a 28 year-old Leeds man.
Last Monday (31 October), PC’s Mark Hunter and David Johnson from South Wales Police’s Maesteg Neighbourhood Policing Team were on patrol when they noticed some suspicious activity at an address on Caerau Road, Caerau.
The eagle-eyed duo uncovered a huge cannabis factory in a house on the terraced street which led to the arrest of a 28-year-old man and the seizure of over 250 plants.
The plants had a potential street value of over £100,000.
Enea Kashari, from Leeds, was charged with being concerned in production of Class B – cannabis and was remanded into custody.
Local Policing Inspector Mel Knight said: “Locating a cannabis farm of this scale is a fantastic result for our officers who work hard to crack down on drug related crime in the area.
“This was a very well equipped, large cannabis farm likely involving a number of people at different levels of the drug supply chain.
“We won’t stop there. We are determined to rid our communities of drugs, but we cannot do this alone and need the public’s support to continue to provide us with information about illegal activity in their neighbourhood.”
