“The CCTV footage shows Jack Delaney approaching the victim, who was known to him, and within seconds starts punching and kicking him to his face and body, causing him to fall to the ground. The attack appears to be unprovoked.

“Moments later, Jack Delaney walks away from his victim, leaving him on the ground before stopping, turning around, and walking back towards him as he appears to remove something from his trouser pocket.

“His victim attempts to get away, but Jack Delaney takes hold of him by his arm, preventing him from escaping, as he makes a single jabbing motion with his right arm towards the victim’s back.

“The victim suffered a collapsed lung which have resulted in life-threatening complications.”

Detective Inspector James Wilson from South Wales Police added: “This was particularly nasty assault which resulted in serious injuries, and it was very lucky that the consequences were not more serious.
