A man from Waunceirch, Neath Port Talbot, has been jailed for a violent assault on his ex-partner, following a break-in at her home earlier this year.
28-year-old Cameron Gladwin forced entry into the woman’s property at around 7am in February, despite the pair having been separated for several months. Once inside, he carried out a sustained and violent attack, leaving the victim physically and emotionally shaken.
Gladwin initially pleaded not guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm, but changed his plea to guilty in July. He has now been sentenced to 12 months in prison.
“No woman should have to fear the repercussions of ending a relationship with their ex-partner,” said Detective Constable Amy Davies. “We hope this is the end of the victim having to fear what Gladwin will do next.”
South Wales Police has urged anyone experiencing domestic abuse to seek support and report incidents. More information is available on their domestic abuse advice page.
