Coming off the back of news that captain Jac Morgan and hooker Dewi Lake will be moving on to pastures new with Gloucester next season, the commitment of two of the Swansea-based region’s most promising players, the Ospreys say, “continues commitment to securing its brightest young talent.”

The pair, fresh off the back of making their senior international debuts in the Quilter Series November loss against New Zealand, have been two of Mark Jones’ side’s most consistent players in the last 12 months.

Back row forward, Morse, 20, who has won a record 24 Wales Under-20s caps, has already made 32 appearances for the Ospreys, having debuted in the United Rugby Championship clash against Hollywoodbets Sharks in 2023.

“This team means a lot to me and I’m really happy to be continuing at the club where my professional career began,” said Morse.

“There’s a great group of boys and staff here who have all played an important part in my development. I’m looking forward to building on that going forward and helping the team in whatever way I can.

“I’m extremely happy to be staying with the Ospreys. This is the team I grew up supporting and have had the privilege of sharing the field with players that I looked up to in the early parts of my career.

“Coming here every day to work is a real privilege for me, I have made some incredible friends at the Ospreys and I’m excited to continue my development here.”

Whilst flanker, Deaves, 24, who recently brought up his half-century for the club in the URC match against Zebre Parma, came through the ranks at Pontyclun RFC. He then made his Ospreys debut in 2022, scoring a debut try against Sale Sharks in the Champions Cup.

“I’m extremely happy to be staying with the Ospreys,” added Deaves.

Ospreys head coach Mark Jones was delighted with the commitment of the two players, and said:

“Morsey has a bright career ahead of him and is part of a strong core of young talent we have within the team, so it’s a great moment for the club to have him re-sign with us,” said Ospreys head coach Mark Jones.

“He is a player that is capable of some real X-factor moments and to be a successful side, you need players like him in your squad.

“Deavesy is someone that has already made his mark on the Ospreys and we’re excited to see him build on that going forward. He has been an extremely consistent performer for us, and consistency is something we value highly at the club.

“He is the type of player that personifies what it is to be an Osprey – his effort, physicality and desire for the shirt, are all invaluable to us as a team,”
