Located at Trysor Cudd by Emmaus South Wales on Tondu Road in Bridgend, the ‘Library of Things’ allows people to borrow items they only need occasionally, such as a jigsaw, pressure washer, sewing machine, or carpet cleaner.

This initiative aims to reduce unnecessary waste by encouraging the community to borrow rather than buy items that are infrequently used.

Retail Manager Angela Davey said:  We’re so excited to launch the Library of Things here in Bridgend! With the cost of living hitting so many people hard, we wanted to create something practical, affordable, and community focused. It’s all about sharing what we have so everyone can access the things they need without the big price tag.”

Emmaus South Wales say that membership is open to anyone aged 18 and over. To join, simply create an online account, link a debit or credit card, and agree to the borrowing terms. Reserve, collect from the Bridgend shop on Tondu Road during opening hours (Monday to Saturday, 9:30 am to 4:30 pm), and return after use. Borrowing starts at just £5 for a seven-day loan but prices do vary depending on the item you are borrowing.
