Dyfed-Powys Police have launched an appeal for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision on the A40 at Broadoak, between Carmarthen and Llandeilo, on the morning of Wednesday 23 July.
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 8am after a collision involving a red Renault Clio and a blue Audi Q5. Tragically, the female driver of the Renault was pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
The occupants of the Audi were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police confirmed.
The road was closed for several hours to allow for a collision investigation, and has since reopened.
Police statement
A Dyfed-Powys Police spokesperson said:
“Sadly, the female driver of the Renault passed away at the scene. Their next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. The occupants of the other vehicle were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The road was closed for collision investigation and has since reopened. Anyone who was travelling along this road at the relevant time and has dash camera footage is urged to contact us.”
Witness appeal
Officers are urging anyone who was travelling along the A40 at the time of the incident — particularly those with dashcam footage — to come forward.
