Emma Faulkner, 48, from Wildmill, was sentenced to four weeks in prison after admitting theft from a shop at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court on December 18.
Caught leaving The Cosmetic Company with £927 haul
The court heard that Faulkner was stopped by staff at The Cosmetic Company in McArthurGlen Designer Outlet, Bridgend, on October 13 after she was seen lifting high‑value beauty items from the shelves.
When the goods were recovered, the total came to £927.50.
Police said Faulkner had attempted to walk out of the store before being intercepted and detained.
Police: “She’ll feel the cost of Christmas”
PC Emma Thomas, from South Wales Police, said the sentence sends a clear message to shoplifters targeting busy retail areas in the run‑up to Christmas.
PC Thomas said:
“Faulkner will feel the cost of Christmas this year as she spends the festive period in jail.”
She added that neighbourhood teams are working to protect businesses and shoppers during the busiest retail period of the year.
PC Thomas said:
“We are committed to ensuring businesses and shoppers in our community are safe. I hope this sentence reassures them that we will take action and ensure shoplifters are held to account.”
