In a dominant performance of attacking intensity, the Swans would come out victorious against their bitter rivals on home turf for the third time in a row and the fifth time in six games.
Goals from forwards Liam Cullen and Jamal Lowe sealed a memorable win despite Cullen missing a second-half penalty for the hosts.
The result meant the Swans would bolster their survival chances as they would move seven points clear of the relegation zone, whilst also damaging Cardiff’s play-off hopes.
Williams after the game felt his team would be good value for the win and was particularly pleased with the level of play shown by his side for the full 90 minutes.
“We won in a really positive way, I can’t argue with the way we went about it today,” said Williams.
“These types of victories take you to a different level of emotion and it felt incredible.
“I think the combination of intensity and aggression combined with calmness and clarity is something we’re all striving for.
“I think it’s fair to say we’ve seen one or the other in recent performances or we’ve seen periods where we’ve done both well. Today felt like the most complete performance so far.
“It’s unrealistic for us to expect to not have any pressure at all [against us], but we were very dominant for the majority of the game and the big chances in the game, we created all of them.

Williams would also sing the praises of home-grown forward Liam Cullen who proved to be the match winner.
The Swans boss would not only be delighted with the forwards attacking threat but also with the Wales internationals character and resilience shown after missing a penalty shortly after the break.
“His [Liam Cullen] overall performance was great. He ran for the team and contested every ball.
“The fact he guides the ball and makes it look comfortable [for the goal]. It is not, it is a proper striker’s goal, then he is brave enough to take a penalty.
“He is in the right place again when Ronnie [Ronald] makes an in-swinging cross and he heads the ball and is unlucky not to score.
“For me, the most important thing for me for strikers is to be brave enough to be in the right position that you might miss and face those consequences. He is brave enough to do that so there are no complaints.
“This is the performance where we have maintained the level for the longest period. You have to take into consideration the emotion of the game.
“To produce that under all the circumstances is great. We have been progressing well and now we have a chance to build on that and finish the season strong.”
