The city zoo put out an appeal on social media to find the bird after it had escaped it’s Parc Tawe home.
But zookeepers have now issued an update to say that after an extensive search by their teams, the bird has now been retrieved.
A spokesperson for Plantasia said: “We can’t thank you all enough for your fantastic response to our plea to locate our wandering Edwards’s pheasant.
“Thanks to several helpful leads, our team searched the areas mentioned late last night and early this morning. I’m delighted to confirm that at 10:15am, (Swansea!) Jack was safely retrieved and returned to Plantasia Tropical Zoo!
“A special thanks to Lisa Mcknight for her incredible assistance last night, and to our Zoo & Education Manager Lucy and Zookeeper Amy for their skilled work in locating and safely returning Jack to his loving home. We also thoroughly appreciate the guidance from our friends at BIAZA.
“Jack has been on quite an adventure around the city! He seems unfazed but glad to be home! For now, he will remain in a quarantined area of the zoo for close monitoring and a full health check by our vet before returning to roam our hot-house with the rest of his family. A thorough investigation is underway to understand how he escaped, and we will take measures to ensure this doesn’t happen again.
“Thank you all once again for your incredible assistance in helping us find our pheasant!”.
