Fifty acres of south-facing land close to the village of Godre’r Graig in the Swansea Valley will be included, along with over 200 other properties and plots of land, in the next live streamed sale to be held by SDL Property Auctions on 27 March.

The land, which covers the site of old quarry workings, has been restored to nature and features waterfalls, a drinking-water-quality spring as well as an electricity supply and hard standing for a caravan. The land also contains several brick buildings, grazing land and an original stone wall around its perimeter.

Andrew Parker, auctioneer and partner at SDL Property Auctions, said the Swansea Valley land was generating interest from a range of potential buyers, some attracted by the off-grid scope of the site. “I guess it’s many people’s dream to be able to live in isolation, potentially off grid and surrounded by rural landscape and that is certainly one of the options this land offers and it has sparked the interest of several would-be new owners,” he said.

“There is also the potential to develop some sort of holiday accommodation or other tourism venture on the land, subject to planning.”

He added: “The site has its own driveway, so is totally self-contained, but it’s also within walking distance of the local shops and pubs in the village, and just a mile from amenities like supermarkets, and petrol stations, as well as being only a short drive to Swansea, Neath or the seaside. Activities such as trout fishing, horse riding and football clubs are also on offer nearby.”

The auction will be live streamed online on 27 March, with bidder registration closing on 26 March.
