Firefighters from across Carmarthenshire rushed to the scene on Monday evening to find the property “well alight”.
The fire service say that sufficient damage was caused by the fire for the building to “fully collapse”.
Neighbours of the property on Haulfryn in Llangunnor were asked to evacuate overnight as a precaution.
Huge crowds of people formed to watch the blaze, with many taking photos and videos – something that has been criticised by family members of the owner of the property.
Family members also say that the resident and his children had “lost everything”
Writing on social media, Stacey Cleaver said: “It was my children’s dad’s house. I was there frantically trying to find him and my dog to see if they were ok and I had to almost fight through a massive crowd of people who were filming!
“He and my children have lost everything but hey….as long as you all had a good look and a good video from it!”
