With less than two weeks to the World Cup, Wales are getting ready for the tournament in Qatar. And so are the people of Swansea.

In fact, the hat has just appeared in Castle Square.

Complete with Football Association of Wales crest, the council say it’ll help Wales celebrate their first World Cup since 1958.

It was installed this week in good time for Wales’ opening fixture against USA on November 21.

But it’s not the only way the city’s marking the World Cup.

The council’s cultural services team plan activity such as sports activity in schools and themed exhibits at key venues – and a Fan Park, in a 2,500-seat Singleton Park big top, will be in place throughout the tournament thanks to Fan Parks UK Group.

Swansea Council cabinet member Robert Francis-Davies said: “We’re really pleased that Swansea has its own giant bucket hat – it’ll help people cheer on Wales.

“Swansea actively celebrates the team’s success and the council’s events team was delighted to facilitate the hat’s installation on behalf of the FAW.”
