Tries from wing Shane Daly, hooker Lee Barron, full-back Mike Haley and fly-half Jack Crowley, who finished with 11 points, gave Munster a comfortable bonus point victory.
Ospreys responded with a Morgan Morris try in the second period and five points from Dan Edwards’ boot but were second best against the Irish province who move into second place of the URC table.
The hosts had managed back-to-back Challenge Cup victories against Connacht and Montauban but now lie bottom of the URC table with only one win in seven league matches.
“Outside of the first twenty minutes, our own accuracy around our general game was inaccurate,” said Jones post-match.
“That resulted in us not converting when we were in the red zone.
“The lineout and scrum [chance] when they turned us over on the line gave them a big momentum shift, emotionally as well.
“It gave them a big lift and took a bit of wind out of our sails. Then they got a couple of sucker punches in right at the end of the half.
“From that, we changed a bit in the second-half and we were more accurate in how we kept the ball. Our attacking breakdown was better, and they did a great job in holding us up.
“We were though pretty much facing a brick wall in the half and couldn’t get the penetration we were looking for that we thought we could get.
“It was an accuracy issue more than anything. The fight and the effort were huge, but you need to bring that to stand a chance [against Munster].
“We have been very good in the last two weeks, and I think today we took a step back, but of course we are playing against pretty good opposition as well.
“They are a top side, I’m not taking anything away from them. They took their moments really well.
“We will go through this diligently and take the positives of what we tried to do and highlight the bits that we need to improve on and take them to the training field.”
Jones revealed that the absence of number eight Ross Moriarty was purely a rotational plan with the Wales forward set to return to action for the derby match against Scarlets on Boxing Day.
“Ross [Moriarty] was a bit banged up. He’s played high minutes in all our games.
“With Morgan Morris back around it and Morsey, Deavesy and Ratti and subs that can cover there, we felt like it was a week we could rotate and get some energy into Ross.
“Gareth Thomas is struggling a little bit with a calf issue, so we are just monortering that at the minute.
“Garyn Phillips will hopefully be back next week as well. He has been struggling a bit with a small issue but should be around it.
“We should have a few guys available that weren’t available tonight, but it wasn’t the selection, it was the accuracy.
“We will select accordingly for the next match, prepare and hopefully get a better performance.”
