The Belgian midfielder fired in low in stoppage time from Femi Ezeez pull back to give the Lions their first away victory of the campaign.
In a game of few chances, all to often there would be a lack of quality and cutting-edge as Luke Williams’ side failed to threaten the Millwall goal enough to claim a much-needed victory.
Josh Key and Florian Bianchini would have the best of the chances late in the second half which would both be saved by visiting goalkeeper Lukas Jensen. Despite having little to do for the contest, Lawrence Vigououx would be the goalkeeper picking the ball out of the back of the net as the Lions would celebrate an unlikely win.
The Swans would come into the game in 15th position in the table searching for a first victory in six matches.
Looking to end a barren run of seven and a half hours of Championship football without finding the net after their midweek stalemate at Sheffield Wednesday, Williams’ side would return to home soil.
They would face off against a Millwall side level on points and with troubles of their own having failed to win on the road in the current campaign. Their last victory outside London coming back on the final day of the season against the Swans back in May.
Williams, looking to continue the clubs unbeaten home record selected a side with three changes. Rested trio Key, Gonçalo Franco and Liam Cullen returning to the starting lineup. Cullen partnering Žan Vipotnik in a change of shape with Ollie Cooper dropped to the bench.
It would be the home side who would enjoy the better of the opening stages playing with a high octane-vibrancy. Matt Grimes almost playing in Vipotnik, whilst Ronald would flash an effort from the edge of the penalty area past visiting goalkeeper Jensen’s far post.
Patient in the build-up, the Swans would test Jensen for the first time at the mid-point of the half. Vipotnik spinning free from his marker before smashing an effort towards the bottom corner, The Dane though would be up the task and would see the effort tipped around the post.
Much like in recent matches the zip would peter out of the Swans play as they would head to break goalless.
In a much more frantic start to the second period the Swans would show more intent in the final third and would go close immediately. Jenson smothering Key’s sliding effort after Josh Tymon had picked out the former Exeter defender’s well-timed run.
The visitors would sense an opening as the half went on and would see their first sight at goal on the hour mark. Playmaker Romain Esse’s teasing run seeing the England Under-20 international brought down on the edge of the box. Midfielder George Honeyman’s free kick, however would be wasteful and rise high and wide of the goal.
As the Swans looked to gain a foothold in the closing stages, in a game of few clear cut opportunities Key would find himself with a rare sight at goal. The full back weaving past two defenders into the penalty area before launching an effort to sting the palms of Jenson.
Williams’ side would toil in the closing stages and nearly took all three points themselves when substitute Bianchini’s header would agonisingly fly inches wide of the post from Grimes’ inswinging cross.
It would, however, be the visitors who would snatch a late winner. Much like in May substitute midfielder De Norre once again the scorer finishing Azeez’s cut back after the Swans had been caught on the counter attack.
