The team at Specsavers Mumbles, located on 10 Newton Road, hosted a raffle with gifts donated by local businesses and Swansea City on Monday 27 November to raise funds for the charity, which helps people stranded on coastlines or at sea.
The fundraiser was part of an opening party for the new £420,000 store, which is owned and run by Chris Jones, Lyndsay Hewitt and Dr. Philip Jones, who also run the Swansea Kingsway Specsavers store.
They were joined by 47-year-old Lee Trundle, whose almost 30-year long career saw him establish himself as a Swansea City legend. He’s still playing football regularly, currently signed as a striker for Mumbles Rangers F.C.

Chris Jones, director, says: “A lot of hard work has gone into getting the store ready to welcome customers, so Phil, Lyndsay and I are thrilled that the day has finally come to open our doors.
“At Specsavers, we’re very passionate about engaging with the local community, which is why we wanted to raise money for the RNLI as part of what we plan to be the first of many community fundraising events.
“The team is ready and raring to go, and we are looking forward to welcoming residents from the local area and beyond.”
