The team, which comprised WCKA Slam fighters from Ammanford, Llandarcy, and Penlan came away with a record haul of 12 Gold, 6 Silver, and 11 Bronze medals.
Chief Instructor, delighted with the outcome of the competition Daniel Parker said:
“We are thrilled with our results, every single one of our athletes did themselves, their families, clubs and country proud in competing against some of the best fighters in the world.”
Unlike many other sports, the Welsh Kickboxing and Karate Team does not receive any financial support from Sport Wales, so this competition was entirely self-funded, and it was down to the generosity of sponsors and fundraisers that the team could enter as Daniel explained.
“This remarkable achievement was made possible through the unwavering support of local businesses and the community, who generously contributed to fundraising efforts, and we are truly grateful for everyone’s contribution,” continued Parker.
With the next World Championships taking place in Greece on 20th – 26th October 2024, the team are already focused on their next challenge and is excited at the prospect of representing Wales once again on the world stage.
