An eye-catching new jersey has been produced especially for the fourth annual Jiffy’s Cancer 50 Challenge, which takes place in August.
They are included in the £100 entry fee, with proceeds going to the cancer centres at Velindre and Singleton hospitals.
But orders for the jerseys, which are set to become collector’s items, have to be in on Monday, 1st July, so anyone thinking of entering should do so now.
Jonathan “Jiffy” Davies and hundreds of participating riders have between them raised many thousands of pounds for Velindre Cancer Centre and the South West Wales Cancer Centre.
The 50-mile ride takes place on Sunday, August 18th, setting out from Cardiff City Stadium and finishing at the Lighthouse restaurant in Swansea’s Bracelet Bay.
For the first time, the two charities are managing the event directly to ensure as much as possible is raised.
The challenge is being facilitated by Amigos Events Management, a Carmarthenshire-based, not-for-profit organisation with a strong track record in running similar charity events.
Lewis Bradley, Charity Support Manager with Swansea Bay Health Charity, himself a keen cyclist, was heavily involved in designing the 2024 jersey.
“We wanted to give the jersey a bit more thought in terms of how it represents the two cancer centres coming together,” he said.
“So instead of having a jersey which doesn’t particularly symbolise collaboration we wanted to create something that has a story to it.”
The jersey features a cartoon version of Jiffy, the route of the bike ride and the names and logo colours of both charities, sponsors, and Amigos.
“If someone asks them where they got the jersey from, it becomes a talking point that will help spread the word about the Jiffy ride and tackling cancer in South and West Wales,” Lewis added.
“It represents the whole ride rather than Velindre or Swansea Bay.”
Jiffy said the ride and the charities it supported were very close to his heart and he was delighted to see it return.
“I need your help to raise as much as possible and help improve cancer services,” he said.
“Join me for this great ride connecting these two incredible cancer hospitals in our collective effort of tackling cancer in South and West Wales.”
