A man who collapsed in a city centre bar seriously injuring himself, is searching for the woman who took care of him to say thank you.

Denis McDaid from Newport was on a golfing weekend with some friends, staying at the nearby Village Hotel on Friday 3 September when he became unwell.

Denis said: “We had played golf at the Clyne Golf club and returned to the hotel for a shower, change and some food.

“Apparently around 8.30pm we went into the city centre. I’ve been told we went into The Perch on Wind Street as they had live music. However I have no recollection of that.

“I remember Siobhan talking to me and telling me what had happened. She said that I’d fallen down the stairs and damaged my neck, eye, forehead and top of my head.

“She told me she was from Kilkenny, so we had a little in common as I am from Ireland myself. One of my friends was with her.

“It seems that I was unconscious for a period of time, and although an ambulance had been called for I eventually was taken to the hospital by a staff member from the Perch.

“Another one of my friends also came to the hospital. I was put into a neck brace and given a CT scan. I was discharged a few hours later.”

Denis believes that Siobhan may be a regular at The Perch and is asking her to get in touch so he can say thank you properly.
